James Vaughan, now 35 years old, retired from playing professional football in May 2021. He rejoined Everton as the Head of Academy Recruitment & Player Pathways after a stint as Sporting Director at Tranmere Rovers, a role he took on at the age of 33. Vaughan began his career at Everton and holds the record for being the youngest scorer in Premier League history at the age of 16. Despite his retirement, he made his last appearance in Tranmere's League Two play-off semi-final defeat by Morecambe in May.
